Chapter Ten

Felix

It had been two weeks since the night of the gala, and still everything felt so surreal. Being under protection, in hiding, being with Will every night, I could hardly wrap my mind around it.

It had been interesting at first, after that night together, for me to be glued to his side at every moment. There was no way to avoid the morning after awkwardness. Only there hadn’t been much awkwardness at all. We had our own little honeymoon period where we were together every second and when we were alone, he was a completely different Alpha—kind, endearing, sweet.

While he was at work, he was more hands off, but I still caught glimpses of the sweet Will I knew from home.

I’d begun sitting in on all the staff meetings, rather than hiding in Will’s office while they were happening. It was interesting to hear about the cases they were working and the clients they had. Plus, it seemed that Eugene had his hands full managing all the paperwork for their projects by himself, so I was able to lend a hand whenever I could.

“We interrogated Gavin Nowak, the guy who attacked Felix, again yesterday. He’s still not coming forth with any information,” Lucas said.

Will’s jaw clenched and he snapped the pencil that was in his hand. He dropped it on the table.

“He’ll crack sooner or later,” Brock said. “It’s been two weeks, any chance we can just torture him for the information?”

“If it was up to me, we already would have,” Damon said.

Will leaned forward on the table, facing Lucas. “What do we know about the guy?”

“Not much,” Lucas answered. “Typical thug for hire. He’s got his information well-hidden though. I can’t make any sense of it and neither can Patrick’s guys. He’s either been on the scene a long time and has known how to wipe his history or he’s new and he just doesn’t have any history to wipe.”

“I thought my dad’s team was handling the investigation?” I asked.

Will sat back, lifted his arm like he was going to pull me closer, then dropped it. “They are. We are just were crossing all our T’s dotting all our I’s. We asked Eugene to run a few reports to see what he could find. So far, it’s the same stuff that your dad’s team has dug up. We just wanted to make sure nothing was missed.”

I nodded. I hadn’t talked with my dad about where he was on his side of things. I knew that Will had, but I tried to ignore the threats that were after me. The less I knew about the investigation, the better. I worried enough about it with as little information that I had, If I knew anymore I’d full-on panic.

I just wanted it to all be over soon. But once it was, what then? Where would I be with Will? Would there be anything with Will?

“We’ve procured another client,” Brock said. “I’ve got two installation jobs this week. But when I get
